نقد و بررسی روتر سیسکو مدل 1841:

سری 1800 که جایگزین سری 1700 شده است، از نظر کارایی تا 5 برابر عملکرد بهتری را نسبت به نسل قبلی خود ارائه می‌دهد و مناسب برای شرکت‌های کوچک و متوسط می‌باشد. این روتر همچنین با استفاده از IOS ویژه Security امکان Encryption سخت‌افزاری را نیز فراهم می‌کند. این روتر از بیش از 30 ماژول اینترفیس WAN (WIC/VWIC) پشتیبانی می‌کند. نکته قابل توجه در رابطه با این روتر عدم پشتیبانی از VoIP و کارت‌های مخصوص Voice می‌باشد. در بازار ایران روتر 1841 به عنوان یکی از مدل‌های مناسب این سری خرید و فروش می‌شود. دلیل آن هم قیمت مناسب، اندازه فیزیکی تقریباً کوچک (1U) و قابلیت‌های فراوان دیگر می‌باشد. 

ویژگی‌های اصلی روتر Cisco 1841:

• سرعت و قابلیت عملکرد بالا (در حد سوئیچینگ سخت‌افزاری) برای کاربردهای امنیت، اتصال به چند نوع اتصال شبکه (xDSL، E1 و ...)
• پشتیبانی از دو کارت پرسرعت HWIC
• عدم پشتیبانی از VoIP
• دارای یک اسلات درونی برای ماژول AIM
• عدم پشتیبانی از ماژول شبکه (Network-Module)
• دارای دو پورت اترنت 10/100

انواع ماژول‌ها برای Cisco 1841:

سیسکو 1841 روتری ماژولار است. بسته به نیاز می‌توانید ماژول‌های مختلف را بخرید و روی آن سوار کنید. دو نوع ماژول را می‌توانید در این روتر استفاده کنید:

1. اسلات HWIC: روتر 1841 دارای دو اسلات HWIC(High-Speed WAN Interface) می‌باشد که با کارت‌های WIC و VWIC نیز سازگاری دارد. با توجه به این‌که این روتر از Voice پشتیبانی نمی‌کند، کارت‌های VWIC تنها برای Data مورد استفاده قرار می‌گیرند.

2. ماژول AIM: مخفف Advanced Integration Module است. روتر 1841 دارای یک اسلات AIM می‌باشد که روی بورد اصلی روتر نصب می‌شود. در این روتر می‌توان از دو ماژول AIM-VPN/SSL-1 برای Encryption سخت‌افزاری و یا AIM-IPS-K9 به منظور IPS سخت‌افزاری استفاده کرد.
